Copper electroformed Pyrite Crescent Moon complete on a 20" soldered gunmetal chain. Gunmetal patina moon. 
 
Many of these moons have colorful Chalcopyrite. Chalcopyrite, also known as Peacock Ore, has lovely iridescent green, blue, pink, purple, and gold colors that resemble the feathers of a peacock. The colors of Chalcopyrite come from the oxidation of copper and iron in the stone. Pyrite's metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well-known nickname of fool's gold. It is said to be a protective and shielding stone, excellent to wear as an amulet to deflect harm and danger.

*liver of sulfur is applied to form a black (gunmetal) patina on the copper. If a pendant is rubbing back and forth on skin it may start to lose its darkened appearance revealing the natural copper. Each piece is sealed with a metal sealant/protectant.
