Copper electroformed Carved Obsidian Planchette pendant complete on a 22” soldered antique copper chain. 
 
This is a beautiful interpretation of a planchette. The Ouija board came straight out of the American 19th century obsession with spiritualism, the belief that the dead are able to communicate with the living. Obsidian is an igneous rock occurring as a natural glass formed by the rapid cooling of viscous lava from volcanoes. Obsidian was used by early Native Americans and many other peoples for weapons, tools, and ornaments. Ancient Aztec and Greek civilizations used the material for mirrors. 
 
Planchettes measure approximately 1.75” x 1.25".
