Madonna del Ghisallo Retablo - Patroness of Cyclists
 
During the middle ages the Count of Ghisallo was being attacked by bandits. He prayed for help. The Madonna appeared to him. He ran toward her and was saved from the bandits. After that, she became known as the Madonna del Ghisallo, Patroness of Travelers. The Giro Lombardia bicycle race runs past where the Madonna appeared. In 1949, a local priest asked the pope to make her the patroness of cyclists.
