About the event

Diviners On Divining is a monthly online class series hosted  by The Cauldron Black and presented and chaired by Dr Alexander Cummins  exploring the mysteries, minutiae, and mastery of divination with a  range of visiting guest diviners.

The Diviners On Divining series consists of twelve monthly  events across 2023 featuring a host of very special guest speakers  discussing various fundamental aspects of divination: from focused  exploration of particular systems and styles of oracular reading to  widely-applicable techniques, tips, and tricks of interpretation,  diagnosis, remediation, and enchantment for one’s personal and  professional divinatory practices.

We are proud to host a fantastic range of guest speakers with an  illuminating range of expertises for this series which welcomes conjure  doctors, folk healers, mediums, astrolators, cartomancers, rune readers,  witches, geomancers, candle-workers, and many other sorts of diviners  and workers. We are excited to invite you to this series of talks  celebrating the unfolding mysteries and practical wisdoms alike of  divination in its many many forms, functions, and fashions.

Have more books than you’ve read? Let the books read you instead!

Books are a fundamental magical technology and provide potent presences in our lives. They’ve also been used for centuries as tools of divination. Cooper Wilhelm and Dr. Alexander Cummins discuss divination “by the book,” considering various historic and contemporary examples and techniques of book-based divining. Comments will be made on the profound flexibility of this literary divination form and how it invites us as diviners to our own flexibility.

Theories and adaptations will be discussed to help guide diviners in ways they can make bibliomancy their own. What should one consider in choosing a book or books? How should one prepare? Are books spirits or pathways to spirits? How are we supposed to read books when reading them to do a reading? When should one do bibliomancy instead of another mode of divination? Does bibliomancy give us a good pathway to remediation? Join us for this June edition of the Diviners on Divining series for some answers – and almost certainly further questions! – to help inform and arm you in these matters and more!
